Terms and conditions Star Rewards

Scheme and Registration

  1. The Texaco Star Rewards scheme (“Scheme”) is open to UK residents aged 18 or over. Registering to join the Scheme by telephone, post or online or use of a Star Rewards card constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions (as amended from time to time) which shall apply to the Scheme.  A Scheme member shall be referred to as “member” in these terms and conditions.
  2. All Star Rewards cards remain the property of Chevron Limited (“Chevron” or “us” or “we”) and must be returned to us on request or destroyed when no longer valid for use. Members are responsible for keeping their card secure. We will not be responsible for any lost or unauthorised use of any Star Rewards card.  Points can only be redeemed by the Star Rewards account holder with which the Star Rewards card(s) is associated. The Star Rewards card is not a charge card, cheque guarantee card, credit or debit card.
  3. The Registration Form (which shall mean the registration form or online registration form) forms part of these terms and conditions. Chevron reserves the right to vary these terms and conditions: (i) for the purpose of introducing new rewards or for implementing other changes to the Scheme, or (ii) for legal or regulatory reasons, or (iii) in the event of a member’s dishonesty, misuse or attempted misuse in relation to the use of any member’s Star Rewards card, any  member’s Star Rewards account or of the Scheme; or (iv) a member’s failure to comply with these terms and conditions; or (v) for any other reasonable purpose.
  4. Chevron is under no obligation to accept any Registration Form or request to register via telephone. Chevron can accept no responsibility for Registration Forms which are not received, delayed or damaged. Proof of posting or sending online is not proof of receipt. Illegible forms or those containing incorrect details will not be accepted.
  5. Chevron reserves the right to change the Scheme including rewards which form part of the Scheme or withdraw any rewards from the Scheme, at any time.
  6. Details of changes to the terms and conditions and/or the Scheme shall be notified to members by posting them on the Star Rewards website (“Website”). In addition, written notices may also be sent to registered members.
  7. Points

  8. Points can be exchanged for rewards of the type and at the rate promoted on the Website.
  9. To collect Points:
    1. the member must present their Star Rewards card to the sales assistant at the till before each transaction begins;
    2. where registration is online or via telephone (and we have accepted the registration) and the member has not received a Star Rewards card, the member can submit receipts for purchases of goods and services from Texaco service stations excluding non qualifying transactions (as described in clause 9 below) made during this period to our FREEPOST address shown on the Star Rewards registration form or on the Contact page on our Website and we will credit the member's Star Rewards account with the Points earned by those purchases;
    3. where the member has been issued with a Star Rewards card and in the event the member does not have their Star Rewards card with them when making a purchase at a Texaco service station, they can submit receipts for purchases of goods and services from a Texaco service station excluding non qualifying transactions (as described in clause 9 below) to our FREEPOST address shown on the Star Rewards registration form or on the Contact page on our Website and we will credit the member's Star Rewards account with the Points earned by those purchases.

    RECEIPTS CAN BE SUBMITTED BY A REGISTERED MEMBER TO EVIDENCE PURCHASES THEY HAVE MADE AND CLAIM THEIR POINTS AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. POINTS WILL ONLY BE CREDITED TO THEIR ACCOUNT IN RELATION TO PURCHASES MADE WITHIN THREE MONTHS PRECEDING THE DATE THE RECEIPTS ARE RECEIVED BY US OR OUR AGENT.

  10. Points will only be earned on every complete £1 spent at the rate specified on the Website. Points accredited to Star Rewards cards are based upon the value spent on goods and services from Texaco service stations. Points can only be earned by a cardholder where they have made the purchases to which the Points are accredited. Points are not awarded for National Lottery purchases, payments made through payment agents or payment processors (including without limitation, Paypoint, Payzone or Epay) for mobile top ups, utility bills, TV licences, congestion charges and any other bill payments or transactions permitted by the payment agent or payment processor, vehicle servicing and repairs, MOTs and the purchase of vehicles or parts for vehicles, Fast Fuel and bunkering cards including Key Fuels and ReD and any other goods and/or services as notified by Chevron (“non qualifying transactions”).
  11. Star Rewards cards should not be used for non qualifying transactions.
  12. Chevron reserves the right to vary the rate at which Points are awarded either by specific Texaco service stations and/or by specific account types. Selected Texaco service stations may at any time undertake promotions where bonus Points may be awarded or Points may be awarded at an increased rate (e.g. double Point promotions) for limited periods of time.  Full details of these promotions including confirmation of the closing date will be published at the relevant time.
  13. New cardholders can use their Star Rewards card the first time they present it on a transaction of £1 or more at a Texaco service station. REGISTRATION WITH THE SCHEME VIA POST, TELEPHONE OR ONLINE IS REQUIRED BEFORE POINTS CAN BE REDEEMED.
  14. All Star Rewards registered members will automatically receive operational communications. Operational communications will include a Welcome Pack with information about the Scheme for new Star Rewards members once their Registration Form has been received and approved or their telephone registration has been approved, and statement mailings confirming their Point balance. Welcome Packs are usually sent out within 28 days after approval of registration.
  15. In addition to regular statement mailings, Point balances will usually be advised to cardholders on till receipts from transactions qualifying for Points.
  16. Redemption

  17. Points may be redeemed via the Website or by telephone, e-mail, or post. Details can be found on the Website or on the Star Rewards registration form.
  18. Chevron can accept no responsibility for postal redemption forms not received, which are illegible or damaged or for email or online redemptions which are not received. Proof of posting or sending emails is not proof of receipt.
  19. Rewards

  20. Details of the Scheme's rewards are set out on the Website. Rewards are subject to supplier's conditions. Points may be redeemed for such rewards as may be promoted from time to time as part of the Scheme. Voucher conditions shall be on the back of the vouchers and may also be displayed on or accessed via the Website. Any supplier's conditions in relation to non-voucher rewards shall be notified to the member by the supplier and may also be displayed on or accessed via the Website.
  21. Rewards are subject to availability. Should any reward become unavailable owing to a high level of demand or for any reason outside of Chevron's reasonable control, Chevron reserves the right to substitute an alternative reward of similar value.
  22. No cash alternative will be given in lieu of any rewards.
  23. Please allow 30 days for delivery of all rewards. In the event rewards are not received within this timeframe, we must be notified within 3 months of the date of the redemption of the Points so that we can investigate the reason for the non delivery. In the event of failure to give notification of non delivery within the 3 month period, we shall be entitled to refuse to award rewards in relation to the respective redemption.

    Scheme Management

  1. Chevron is entitled to audit any member's Star Rewards account at any time for the purpose of verifying transactions and account details. The member's account will be suspended during the audit.
  2. Chevron may apply such reasonable restrictions, conditions or further requirements in connection with the issue or redemption of Points either generally or in respect of a particular member. Chevron has the right to require proof that Points have been acquired in accordance with these terms and conditions. Failure to provide proof when requested shall be deemed to be a breach of these terms and conditions and we shall be entitled to terminate membership of the Scheme.
  3. We reserve the right to refuse to award or redeem Points or supply rewards: (i) during any audit, or (ii) for any breach of these terms and conditions, or (iii) failure by the member to pay for goods or services or (iv) dishonesty or misuse or attempted misuse by the member in relation to their Star Rewards account, the Scheme or their Star Rewards card or any other member's card.
  4. Termination of membership

  5. Scheme membership will be deemed closed, and any Points written off, if a member's Star Rewards card is not used for transactions (excluding non qualifying transactions) for 12 consecutive months.
  6. Chevron reserves the right at any time to withdraw or cancel any individual Star Rewards card or terminate any Star Rewards account without notice: (i) for legal or regulatory reasons; or (ii) in the event of the member's dishonesty or misuse or attempted misuse of any member's Star Rewards card (including the member's card), member's Star Rewards account or of the Scheme (including where there are reasonable grounds for suspecting dishonesty or misuse or attempted misuse); or (iii) in the event of the member's failure to comply with these terms and conditions; or (iv) in the event of the member's failure to pay for goods or services; or (v) in the event of the member's failure to comply with any request for information in relation to an audit; or (vi) any other reasonable reason. Confirmation of termination will be sent in writing to registered members. Chevron reserves the right to end the Scheme in accordance with clause 26.
    For the purposes of these terms and conditions, references to dishonesty, misuse or attempted misuse in relation to the use of any member's Star Rewards card, any member's Star Rewards account or the Scheme, includes without limitation, providing us with a fictitious name in relation to registration to the Scheme or the use of a Star Rewards card, or claiming Points for transactions which are not the member's transactions, or asking or permitting staff at Texaco service stations to credit the member's account with Points which have not been acquired in accordance with these terms and conditions.
  7. Termination of Scheme

  8. We reserve the right to terminate the Scheme at any time. A minimum of eight weeks notice will be given prior to the end of the Scheme. This notice period will be communicated via promotional material in-store at Texaco service stations. All registered members will also be notified in writing. Points must be redeemed by the date which falls 28 days after the end of the eight week notice period (the final redemption date).
  9. Data Protection

  10. Collection and use of personal information

    An applicants or a members personal information will be collected and used as described below. Personal information includes information provided in the Registration Form or during telephone registration and information regarding use of a members Star Reward card. Personal information will be collected and used by Chevron and by other companies who assist us in the administration and management of the Star Rewards Scheme (including collecting information from applicants and members on our behalf):

    1. to provide details of the Star Rewards Scheme, the Points earned, services and information requested and to dispatch rewards;
    2. for purposes related to administration and management of the Star Rewards scheme including improving the scheme; fraud prevention and detection; statistical analysis; market research; and
    3. to send information about Chevron products and services which may be of interest where the applicant or member has consented to receive such information.

    Disclosure to third parties

    We may disclose personal information to any member of our group, which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries, as defined in section 1159 of the UK Companies Act 2006.

    We may disclose personal information to third parties:

    1. in the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we may disclose applicants and members personal information to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets.
    2. if Chevron or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by it about the applicants and members will be part of the transferred assets.
    3. if we are under a duty to disclose or share applicants and members personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply these terms and conditions, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Chevron, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud prevention and detection including disclosure to our rewards suppliers, operators of Texaco service stations and other third parties. Such disclosures may take place in the course of our investigations where we suspect dishonesty, misuse or attempted misuse in relation to the use of any members Star Rewards card, any members Star Rewards account or the Scheme.
    4. to our rewards suppliers so that they can send information about their products and services which may be of interest where the member has consented to receive such information.

  11. General

  12. Any reference in these terms to giving notice or confirmation of notice “in writing” or “written” shall mean letter or email. Any correspondence, notice or confirmation of notice sent by Chevron will be sent to the last postal or email address provided by the member.
  13. Our decision regarding withdrawal or cancellation of any individual card or termination of any Star Rewards account is final.
  14. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
  15. Texaco, the Star T logo and Star Rewards are brands and trade marks owned by Chevron Intellectual Property LLC and/or Chevron Limited.  All other trade marks are  the property of their owners
